Seattle and North Cascades Railway - Boeing Employees’ Model Railroad Club (HO)

This double deck, 1,270 square foot display represents a class one railroad operating entirely within Washington State, from Seattle to Omak, during the transition era of the late 1950s. The route travels up and over the North Cascades Mountains on a double track main line, with a 2.8% grade to transition from the lower to the upper level.  It follows the path of what is now the North Cascades Highway to conquer the mountains. There are coal mines; logging and sawmill operations; a cement plant; and a paper mill along with fruit, grain, and other related industries.  Most of the scenery and track is in place. Some innovative construction methods are visible. Lighting for the lower area is LED strings and the switch machines are custom made by the club, using servos and electronics to control the turnouts.
