Brian Ferris' Port Townsend & Southern (HO)

The Port Townsend & Southern (PTS) is based on a modern version of an historical railroad that existed in Thurston County, WA, at the turn of the 20th century. The modeled version is an independent bridge line in the middle of the Portland-Seattle NP line that leases trackage rights to the NP, UP, GN, and MILW. The era encompasses the 1950s-60s, with steam and early diesels for motive power.

The PTS occupies a 15' x 26' room built especially for the layout.  A staging yard and an industrial area are in the adjacent garage.  Highlights include a large classification yard, a log reload, a sawmill and a coal mine.

The layout was built with operations in mind.  Most locomotives are sound equipped and are controlled by Digitrax DCC.  The PTS is a regular participant in Oly Ops and SoundRail.  The PTS was featured in the September 2014 issue of Trackside Model Railroading.
