Philip Johnson’s Columbia Valley & Western (S)

This 1950s era, freelanced railroad depicts activities in a small town in western Washington. The island style layout is built in sections. It features “hi-rail” flextrack with code 138 rail (code 100 in HO), along with pre-ballasted track pieces, similar to Bachman “Easy Track”. Philip uses custom made turnouts that accommodate both tinplate and scale wheels.

A scenic divide on the railroad is disguised by commercial photo murals providing beautiful mountain backdrops for the scenes. There are geared PBL brass locos working the sawmills and a RTR plastic Consolidation running on the main. The impressive sawmill is a custom laser cut kit made for the CV&W.  There are many more nicely assembled, painted and weathered craftsman kit structures to admire.
